ABOUT US

A native Arkansan, I have a strong love for our
resources: meandering rivers, the array of native plant and tree species, rich history, unique culture, people, people, and people.  The people of our region are unparalleled; we are friendly, down to earth, and know good stuff when we come across it.

I come from a long line of good cooks who know good food.  My grandmothers' southern faire is not to be forgotten.  Several women in my family have had restaurants, catering businesses, and have written cookbooks.  We like to crank up the oven and bring out the table linens.  Making wholesome (and somewhat fancy) baby foods is a natural fit for me.

In addition to food, agriculture runs in my veins.  I
am fourth generation on my family's Arkansas farm.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Soil and Water Science and a master's degree in Agricultural Economics, both from the University of Arkansas.  My husband has a bachelor’s and a master's degree in Animal Science from the University of Arkansas and works with local farmers and ranchers.  We live on his family's farm in Washington County, Arkansas, where we raise cattle, a large vegetable garden, and our sweet little baby girl, Lucy.

Like several young women I know in Northwest Arkansas and around the region, I am a new mom.  Just like these moms, I want only the very best for my little punkin' pie.  I've researched the jarred and frozen baby food options available to us and decided that, while they may be safe and contain many of the nutritive aspects our babies need, they're just not good enough.

At the time we founded our company, there was no other baby food company based in the State of Arkansas.  While farmers’ markets are growing in popularity, no one had yet reached out to connect regional farmers with local babies.  Baby foods are most often processed in large plants with ingredients shipped in from other agricultural regions and other countries.  They are sometimes produced on food lines that also process allergenic foods.  Since we are the only ones to use our kitchen, we know that only safe and clean ingredients are prepared there; we don't share our kitchen with a restaurant.  Incidentally, this enables us to ensure our facility is spotless and that quality controls that meet our standards are used each time the lights are on.

I believe in our recipes, which include fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, and herbs.  That's it.  Some companies add algal oil and other vitamins and minerals, but as a mom, I want the option of supplementing my babies' vitamin intake with whole foods.  What I have added to Oh Baby Foods™ is more oomph.  Our six varieties have flavor.  I encourage you to taste them for yourself.

Our fresh ingredients are grown by regional farming families who keep detailed records; my team and I clean and chop these ingredients by hand, bake and steam them, use my recipes to puree and mix up fantastic foods for your baby, package the foods, and send them to your grocer's freezer case.

I hope you'll be as pleased with our foods as our current parents are.  We have a money back guarantee if you're not satisfied with our product.  Please don't hesitate to contact me; I am your neighbor after all.

From my kitchen to yours,

Fran Free Gunsaulis
Mother and Founder
